Dear Neighbor,
At our annual meeting on June 10th owners voted 51 to 6 electing new board members for the HOA. We want to update you on the transition.
On June 11th, the outgoing president deleted our neighborhood website and was unwilling to recover it. He also refused to give us the passwords for the HOA’s gmail accounts, so we’ve created a new one. The new email for the HOA is [email protected] and our phone number is 816-427-1294. All the board members have access to these and check them regularly. We’re also building a new HOA website.
Immediately following the election A.B. Lawn Care contacted us saying the company had not been paid for any services provided since March and was owed $4,870. We’ve paid the company in full and have ended our week-to-week relationship. We’ve hired Diamond D. Lawn as a replacement for about half the cost. We also learned that our neighborhood owes an attorney $2,552.97 in unpaid bills for past work. This $7,422.97 spent by the previous board will have to come from this year’s budget because there was not money in the accounts to cover these previous bills. Indebting the HOA is against our Weatherstone Restrictions. Our current board is committed to following the HOA By-laws, Declarations, and Restrictions.
These past weeks the board has reviewed our HOA’s past five years of financial transactions. We’ve discovered thousands of dollars in unexplained expenditures that have no receipts. We’ll be working with past board members to get clarity on how these expenditures relate to Weatherstone HOA business. We’ll provide an update on this once we know more. Please know that we are committed to fiscal responsibility.
We’ve begun making improvements for the neighborhood. We are closing and vacating the storage unit (saving $800 this year), have switched our lawn care provider (saving $6,000 this year), and are saving on the new HOA website ($200 this year).
We’ve also found that while most owners always pay their dues each year on time, for some reason last year dues were not collected from about 13 homeowners. We will be reaching out to those homeowners so they can get current on their dues.
Our dues are $150 for 2023-24 if paid by July 31st. You can pay in one of three ways:
Pay online any time at this link Paypal.me/weatherstone64015
If you use this method, please indicate your address (so we credit the correct owner) and make your online payment for $154.50 as Paypal charges us a 3% processing fee.
Mail a check to Weatherstone HOA PO Box 1851 Blue Springs, MO 64015
Mail a check to Brian Johnson, Treasurer, at 1301 NW Porter Drive Blue Springs, MO 64015
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions, concerns or ideas on how to improve the neighborhood. We want to keep Weatherstone a well-run and thriving community for all of us.
Sincerely,
Weatherstone Homeowners Association - Executive Committee
